1. Final report

SUMMARY

Our project was based on students’ and teachers’ work. Students  had a chance to develop their world view by experiencing a lot of practical activities focusing on different  cultural aspects like  presentations, movies, travel brochures, geographical books, common cultural photograph albums, exhibitions of their drawing of the new cultural information they got during the project. They  used new technology as a tool for sharing the different activities. The children also prepared  songs and folkdances and  performed them in public. By means of all these activities, students learnt different cultures, ways of life, attitudes and this helped them to have empathy and tolerance towards different points of view. Teachers had a chance to improve their methods by comparing the education system of each country. Each teacher prepared documents, presentations, power points that contained information and explanations about the education system of his/her country. They discussed   the similarities and differences and talked about the usefulness of them. During the visits they observed lessons so that they could note  approaches, techniques, methods, lesson plans and material  used by  the colleagues from the  different countries and share those experiences and apply the relevant data to the student’s curriculum and lessons. The results of all our work have been put on the website, represented in organized exhibitions and published in the local press.

WORKPLAN AND TASKS

The project was initially planned for seven partners. But when the project began there were only four partners  and at the first project meeting in Regensburg, some activities were revised to reflect the new partnership and to avoid duplication  of activities.

The activity entitled “My life as a pizza” fell under the activity entitled “A day in my life” which depicted a typical day in the life of students in partnership countries.

Activities like the cultural box and young explorers formed part of the travel book project. The video-clip planned for the  travel agency was done as “a day in my life”.

Exchanging folk dances and songs was not done via internet as planned initially but it was organized at the multiethnic festival held with all four partners present in Italy.

Other activities were added in order to create a common image for the project, such as the project logo which was planned in each country and the best one was voted by all the students involved.

COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION

The cooperation and communication between the participating organizations involved was good and all organizations were equally involved. We communicated by internet e-mails, phone calls, text messages, Skype. During the meetings, we programmed, compared and evaluated the results of our activities together.
